Blue Ridge (90 minutes from Atlanta) has the strongest mix: a downtown you can walk end to end, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, Lake Blue Ridge, the Toccoa River for tubing, Mercier Orchards, and waterfall trails within half an hour. It is the busiest of the towns in October for a reason.

Ellijay (25 minutes south of us) is apple country — orchards, cider, and a smaller downtown square. Blairsville (about 40 minutes east) is the quieter choice, closest to Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point. Helen (about 90 minutes east) is a Bavarian-themed town that is fun with kids but crowded. Dahlonega (about an hour southeast) is the wine-tasting town.

You can day-trip to any of those from Blue Ridge, which is what most of our guests do. Serenity at Overlook is a 1,400 square-foot cabin about 10 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge: king suite, queen suite, two full baths, pull-out sofa, private hot tub, deck fireplace, and fire pit. Pet free, sleeps 6, check in 3:00 PM and check out 11:00 AM.
